Here arethe Best EBook Reader Compared

Kindle 2 Best Ebook Reader

Product Rating: rating (5 Stars)
Amazon Kindle 2 (Our #1 Recommendation)
  • Holds 1,500 Books
  • Very Skinny & Easy to Hold
  • Smaller 6" Screen
  • Uses Sprint's Fast 3G Network
  • Download Books & Magazinesfrom anywhere
  • Books Can Be Read Aloud
  • New Low Price: $189 (*LOWEST EVER!)
    (Was $259)
Product Review:

Amazon's new Kindle 2 is sleek and is a great improvement over the original Kindle, which was bulky.

We give the Amazon Kindle 5 stars as the Best Ebook Reader available. With The Kindle 2's built in wireless function, you can download items anywhere in the U.S, as well as hear them read aloud. It's really more like a mini computer since you can browse the Web and transfer PDF's. The only con we could find is that Kindle books can't be read on most other devices. But if you have the Kindle, why would this matter?

Sony Reader Touch

Product Rating: rating (4.5 Stars)

Sony Reader Touch Edition
  • 350 Titles (Memory Card Upgrade Available)
  • 6" touchscreen
  • Ability to write with a stylus
  • Comes in a varitey of colors
  • Needs to be attached to computer to download
  • Cost: $300.00
Product Review:

The Sony Reader Touch Edition eBook Reader comes in second place as we continue to compare ebook readers. Our rating is mainily due to its reliance on a computer. While it could have more titles than the Amazon Kindle 2 with the memory upgrade (extra cost), it is not a free-standing wireless unit, which could be a problem if you don't want to pack your laptop along with you when you run out of reading, or if you find a great new title that you would like to start on immediately.

Sony Reader Touch

Product Rating: rating (4 Stars)

iRex iLiad Book Edition

  • 50 preloaded books
  • Best for reading large print
  • 8" touchscreen
  • Wi-Fi
  • Only holds about a dozen books
  • Additional memory cards boost to 3,000 books
  • Reds PDF's and make notes on documents
  • Cost: Used - $600.00
Product Review:

The iRex iLiad Book Edition seems like a popular product, although we're not sure why. However, if you like reading on a bigger screen, this might be the one to have with it's 8' touchscreen. It seems a bit large compared to the other ebook readers reviewed (except for the new larger Kindle DX), but does have increased capacity with additional memory and is Wi-Fi enabled (unlike the Sony product).

You'll need to keep your eye out for this eBook reader though, since it's been on the market a little longer, it's harder to find and unavailable on some of the sites we looked at. It's also one of the more spendy models, coming in new at over $1,400.00, but you can find used ones on Amazon for about $600.00. We're giving this ebook reader 4 stars mainly because of the steep price.

Foxit eSlick eBook Reader

Product Rating: rating (4 Stars)

Foxit eSlick

  • Holds 500 books
  • 6" touchscreen
  • Can upgrade to 4-gig memory card (double)
  • Includes an MP3 Player
  • Needs to be attached to computer to download
  • Cost: $260.00
Product Review:

As we show the Foxit eSlick ebook reader comparison, we see that it has a small screen like the Amazon Kindle 2, but only holds 500 books to start off with. However, you can double that capacity by buying a memory card. This device also includes an MP3 Player, however, we're not sure if you can listen to music and read from the same device. This one only gets 4 stars from us because of it's low capacity for the initial charge, and the fact that it needs to be plugged into a computer to download ebooks.
